Workers' compensation death benefits may aid surviving families

Most businesses in Pennsylvania implement safety precautions to decrease risk of injury for their employees. Unfortunately, accidents that result in serious injury or fatality sometimes happen in ways no one expects. Families of deceased victims may find legal recourse through the aid of experienced workers' compensation attorneys. A family in another state is likely looking into their options after a worker was killed on the job.

According to reports, the worker was employed with a company specializing in hydraulic systems and components. During a motor testing operation, a safety hood fell and struck the man. It is unclear at this time what caused the safety device to fall.

Tragically, the worker died at the scene. The company conducted a preliminary investigation soon after the incident, and federal officials have now joined in the investigation. In an attempt to prevent any similar injuries, the business is replacing all other safety hoods in the facility with newer models.

Typically, when a worker is injured on the job, he or she may file for workers' compensation benefits. In the case of a deceased victim, his or her surviving family may choose to file for death benefits to help cope with any unexpected financial burden caused by the death of their loved one. When such claims are successfully presented, claimants may then be awarded monetary benefits that can be used to help pay for medical bills, funeral costs or other related expenses. Anyone injured on the job or lost a loved one to a work accident could contact an experienced Pennsylvania attorney for more information and assistance.
