Car accidents increase as summer travel heats up

Residents of the Keystone State are out and about, making the most of their summer vacations. After an especially brutal winter that seemed to linger forever, residents and tourists alike are welcoming the sunny months and enjoying the outdoors. While Pennsylvania offers something for everyone, and naturally people are eager to leave home, drivers should remember that crowded roads lead to an increased risk of car accidents

On June 17, a 31-year-old man was driving on Route 120 when he lost control of his vehicle while attempting to navigate a curve in the road. His vehicle careened into oncoming traffic, and the car collided head-on with a vehicle being driven by a 66-year-old man. The driver responsible for the collision was killed, and a passenger in his vehicle and the driver and two passengers of the other vehicle suffered serious injuries.

The Pennsylvania roadway was closed in both directions for several hours. Multiple emergency crews and a helicopter were deployed in an attempt to render aid quickly. At this time, lives are hanging in the balance, as at least three of the victims remain in critical condition.

When serious car accidents end lives and cause devastating injuries, victims and families can find themselves at a loss for how to proceed. In the stressful days when families are unsure if a victim will live or die, things like medical bills and insurance matters can seem trivial, but must be attended to.  Often, legal proceedings are also initiated after an investigation reveals which driver was at fault. During a time of such overwhelming grief and confusion, it may be helpful to consult an experienced attorney, who may be able to assist victims and their families as they attempt to recover and seek justice for their loved ones.
