How do self-driving cars work?

For years, people have been excited about the prospect of autonomous, or self-driving, vehicles. How convenient would it be to sit in your own vehicle, program your destination into the computer and then sit back and enjoy a cup of coffee and your morning news apps while your car drives you to work? However, we still have a long way to go until technology like this is available for the public – and reasonably safe. As a recent, fatal accident illustrated, autonomous technology may not yet be ready for consumers in Pennsylvania and elsewhere.

Medical malpractice: a shockingly common phenomenon

When you sustain a serious injury or become ill and need to go to the hospital, you expect that the medical professionals who treat you will take good care of you, and you soon will be back home and working at your job. Considering the number of excellent medical facilities in and around South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, your expectations are not unreasonable. You therefore probably will be shocked and appalled to learn that medical malpractice not only is commonplace, but is the third leading cause of death in the U.S., accounting for upwards of 251,000 deaths each year.

Older drivers and car accidents: A real problem?

Throughout your life, you have likely heard stories in which someone suffered an injury or died from an accident with an older driver. Perhaps it even happened to a loved one. However, you might be wondering if the talk about older drivers being dangerous is hype or if there is truth behind it.

Seat belts save many, but not all

It is a fact that wearing a seat belt when traveling in a motor vehicle in Pennsylvania may be one of the best ways to reduce the risk of losing one’s life in a car crash. Unfortunately, even seat belt use is not a 100-percent guarantee.

The overlooked danger of parking lots

When most people think of car accidents, they imagine two vehicles hitting each other on the street or highway. However, a large portion of accidents occurs in parking lots and garages when vehicles are moving at relatively slow speeds. In fact, CBS News reported that nearly one out of every five collisions occurs in a parking lot.

Do you know how to spot a drunk driver?

Everyone knows that drinking alcohol and driving do not mix. The risk of getting caught, crashing into another person and becoming injured is too great. Yet, some individuals still take chances and drive while buzzed, knowing those dangers.
