Family may file wrongful death claim after woman killed in crash

There could be any number of reasons a car accident might happen. Whether drivers fail to pay attention to their surroundings or actively break traffic laws, these accidents can lead to serious injuries or even fatalities. One Pennsylvania family may consider filing a wrongful death lawsuit against a driver after a young woman was killed in a crash.

The victim was a passenger in a car traveling west on a local state road. The driver responsible for the collision was headed east. For reasons currently unknown, the second driver crossed the center line into the pathway of the victim’s vehicle. After the impact, witnesses stated that both vehicles caught fire.

Two bystanders managed to smash the windows of the victim’s car and pull the two women out. Police reports indicate that several emergency response units assisted in responding to the accident, including the local fire department and EMS. Both women were flown to area hospitals, where one later passed away from her injuries. The driver who allegedly caused the crash was also transported to a hospital with injuries.

While no criminal charges have been issued to the responsible driver at this point, the deceased victim’s surviving family could file a wrongful death claim against the other driver. If their claim successfully proves that driver negligent, they could be awarded monetary damages that could help pay for medical bills, funeral costs and any other expenses related to the accident. Similarly, the surviving victim could file a personal injury claim. Any Pennsylvania residents who have lost loved ones or have been injured in crashes due to negligence or wrongdoing could consult experienced personal injury attorneys for more information.
