Workers’ compensation may benefit those in industrial accidents

Workers’ compensation may benefit those in industrial accidents

In spite of the many safety precautions businesses implement in their facilities, accidents on the job still occur. Many employees who suffer work injuries choose to file for workers’ compensation benefits. When an employee is killed on the job, surviving families are typically entitled to file for survivors’ benefits. Several Pennsylvania workers and workers’ families may choose to file claims after two men were recently killed and others were injured in a crane accident.

Few details of the incident have been released at this time. What is known is that two workers were operating a crane outside the Manitowoc Crane Manufacturing Plant. For reasons that have yet to be determined, something went wrong in the process. This resulted in fatal injuries to both men and serious injuries to three other workers.

The Franklin County coroner revealed that the deceased workers suffered blunt force trauma that resulted in their deaths. Two others suffered injuries to an arm and a hand, while the third was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition. The local branch of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration is currently investigating the accident, which may take a few months to complete.

Severe accidents such as this can take a tremendous emotional and financial toll on those involved as well as their families. Anyone who has been injured on the job or lost a loved one to a work accident would likely benefit from contacting an experienced Pennsylvania workers’ compensation attorney. An attorney could help assess the situation, provide more information regarding available legal recourse and assist in filing and pursuing any claims.
