Motor vehicle collisions may occur at the most unexpected times. In many cases, car accidents are the results of negligent drivers. These drivers may be considered negligent by being distracted by their cell phones, intoxicated or even too tired to drive. One Pennsylvania man was killed in a recent crash that may have been caused by a negligent driver.
According to authorities, the victim was a tow truck driver. He was attending to a disabled vehicle on the interstate when the collision occurred. Police say that the driver believed to be responsible struck the victim and continued driving. Sadly, the victim did not survive his injuries.
With the help of witness descriptions, police were able to locate the driver at his home and take him into custody. He has since been charged with several offenses, including felony homicide by vehicle, felony accidents involving death, reckless driving and failing to report the accident to police. His preliminary hearing is upcoming.
Families who lose loved ones in car accidents may face unexpected financial burdens in addition to emotional stress. To help cope with this, deceased victims’ surviving families may choose to file wrongful death claims in civil court against any party or parties believed to be responsible. These types of claims can provide plaintiffs with financial assistance in the form of monetary damages when successfully litigated. Experienced Pennsylvania personal injury attorneys could aid those in similar situations by providing more information about the litigation process and assisting in filing this type of claim.
